Registering for Events
Last updated 3/22/2026
Overview
Your flying club is more than just an aircraft scheduling system — it's a community of pilots with shared interests, and club events are where that community comes to life. Fly-outs, safety seminars, ground schools, hangar socials, and formation clinics are what keep members engaged beyond their individual flying hours. Centerline's Events feature lets you see what's coming up, register with a single click, and even subscribe to a calendar feed so events automatically appear in your personal calendar app alongside everything else in your schedule.
Registering in Centerline tells the organizers you're coming, helps them plan for the right number of attendees, and ensures you'll receive any updates or reminders they send before the event. It takes less than a minute and keeps everyone — including you — better informed.
Feature flag: Events must be enabled for your organization before the Events section appears in your dashboard. If you don't see Events in the left navigation, reach out to your Account Owner to ask about enabling the feature.
Viewing Upcoming Events
Navigate to Events in the left sidebar of your dashboard. The page shows a table of your organization's upcoming events, sorted by start date and time.
Each row in the table shows:
- A green checkmark in the leftmost column if you're already registered for that event
- Title — the name of the event
- Date & Time — the date and either a start/end time (for timed events) or "All day" for full-day events
- Location — where the event takes place, if specified by the organizer
- Registrations — how many members have registered, shown as either "X registered" (for unlimited-seat events) or "X/Y seats" (for events with a capacity limit)
- Status badge:
- Open (teal border) — the event is upcoming and has seats available
- Full (green) — the event has reached its seat limit and registration is closed
- Past (gray) — the event has already ended
- Register / Cancel button — a quick-action button that lets you register or cancel without opening the full detail view
Showing past events
By default, only upcoming events are shown. To see events that have already taken place, check the Show past events box at the bottom of the page. Past events are shown at reduced opacity. You can't register for or unregister from events that have ended.
Opening a specific event by link
If someone shared a direct link to an event with you, clicking it will open the events page with that event's detail dialog already open. This is useful for organizers who want to make it easy for members to find a specific event quickly.
Registering for an Event
Option 1: Quick register from the events table
Click the Register button in the row of the event you want to attend. A registration dialog will open showing the event name and start time.
In the dialog:
- Add an optional comment — use this to communicate anything the organizer should know, such as "I'll be flying in from KGYY" or "bringing a guest." This comment will be visible to event managers in the registrant list. It's entirely optional — leave it blank if you have nothing to add.
- Click Register to confirm.
You'll see a success message and the dialog will close. The events table will update to show a green checkmark next to the event and your name will appear in the registrant list.
Option 2: Register from the event detail view
Click anywhere on the event row (not the Register button) to open the event detail dialog. This shows the full event information:
- Complete date and time (including day of week and year)
- Location (if specified)
- Full description — read this carefully before registering; organizers often include logistical details, skill requirements, or things to bring
- Status badge and seat availability
- The list of registered members (names and emails)
If you're not yet registered, you'll see a Register button at the bottom of the dialog. Click it to open the same registration dialog described above.
Canceling Your Registration
If your plans change and you can no longer attend, please cancel your registration so the organizer knows not to expect you and so your spot can open up for another member (especially important for events with seat limits).
To cancel from the events table: Click the Cancel button in the event row. A confirmation dialog will ask you to confirm the cancellation. Click Cancel Registration to confirm, or Keep Registration to go back.
To cancel from the event detail view: Open the event detail dialog. If you're registered, you'll see your name with a You badge in the registrant list. Close the detail dialog and use the Cancel button in the events table row to cancel your registration.
You can only cancel your own registration. You cannot cancel from the event detail dialog directly — use the Cancel button in the events table row. If you registered by mistake and the Cancel button isn't available (the event has ended), contact an event manager to have your registration removed.
Viewing the Registrant List
Clicking any event row opens the event detail dialog, which shows the full list of registered members. You'll see each registrant's name, email address, and any comment they left when registering. Your own name is marked with a You badge.
This list is visible to all organization members — not just admins. Transparency about who's attending is intentional: it helps members coordinate (carpooling, sharing hotel rooms for a fly-out weekend, deciding whether to bring a guest), and it creates social accountability that reduces no-shows.
Subscribing to the Calendar Feed
If your organization has enabled the calendar feed, a Subscribe button appears in the upper-right corner of the Events page. Clicking it reveals an iCal URL that you can add to Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook, or any other calendar app that supports calendar subscriptions.
Once subscribed, your club's events will appear in your personal calendar and update automatically when organizers make changes in Centerline. This means you'll see upcoming events alongside your personal appointments, flight lessons, and work schedule — without having to check Centerline separately.
How to subscribe in common calendar apps
Apple Calendar (macOS or iOS)
- Copy the feed URL from the Subscribe popover in Centerline.
- In Apple Calendar, go to File > New Calendar Subscription (macOS) or Calendars > Add Calendar > Other Calendar Subscription (iOS).
- Paste the URL and click Subscribe.
- Set a name (e.g., "Centerline Events"), choose a refresh interval (every hour or every day is usually fine), and click OK.
Google Calendar
- Copy the feed URL from Centerline.
- In Google Calendar, click the + next to "Other calendars" in the left sidebar, then select From URL.
- Paste the URL and click Add calendar.
- Note: Google Calendar may take a few hours to display events initially, and it refreshes the feed roughly every 24 hours — changes in Centerline won't appear instantly.
Outlook (desktop or web)
- Copy the feed URL from Centerline.
- In Outlook, go to Add Calendar > Subscribe from web (web) or File > Account Settings > Internet Calendars > New (desktop).
- Paste the URL and click Add.
The calendar feed is specific to your organization. If you belong to multiple organizations in Centerline, each organization has its own feed URL. The feed is read-only — changes you make to events in your calendar app won't sync back to Centerline.
Tips
- Register early for events with seat limits. When an event has a capacity cap, spots are filled first-come, first-served. Once the event shows Full, registration closes automatically. Check the Events page regularly if you're interested in a popular event.
- Read the description before registering. Event organizers put important logistics in the description: departure times, required equipment, skill prerequisites, and costs. Opening the event detail before registering takes only a moment and avoids surprises on the day of the event.
- Cancel promptly if your plans change. Last-minute cancellations leave organizers scrambling and may mean another member missed a chance to attend. If something comes up, cancel in Centerline as soon as you know — even if it's the day before.
- Use the comment field to coordinate. If you're flying in from a different airport, sharing a ride, or bringing a guest, mention it in the registration comment. Organizers can see all comments in the registrant list and can use that information to plan logistics.
- Subscribe to the calendar feed to never miss an event. Once you've added the iCal subscription to your calendar app, new events posted by your club will appear automatically. This is especially useful for members who don't check Centerline frequently but do keep their personal calendar open all day.
- Past events aren't visible by default. If you're looking for an event you attended previously — to recall a date, check who was there, or find the location — check Show past events at the bottom of the events page.
