Event Sharing

Overview
Event Sharing gets your club's events in front of people in two different ways: a Calendar Feed that members subscribe to in their own calendar app, and a Website Widget that shows your upcoming events on the club's public website. They're independent — set up either one, both, or neither — and both only ever share events, never reservations, squawks, or any other club data.
This is a feature of Events, so the Events feature must be enabled for your organization before the Event Sharing card appears.
Required Role
You must have the Account Owner role to generate or regenerate either the calendar feed URL or the website embed code.
Accessing Event Sharing
Click Setup in the navigation bar, select the Data & Features tab, and find the Event Sharing card.
Calendar Feed
The calendar feed gives members a URL they can subscribe to from their own calendar app — Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook, or anything else that supports iCal feeds. Every event on your club's calendar appears automatically; there's nothing for the member to re-check manually.
Setting it up:
- In the Calendar Feed section, click Generate Feed URL.
- Copy the URL with the copy button and share it with your members (your welcome email or newsletter is a good place).
Subscribing (for members): the exact steps vary by app, but generally:
- Google Calendar: Settings → Other calendars → "+" → From URL
- Apple Calendar: File → New Calendar Subscription
- Outlook: Add calendar → From Internet
New and updated events typically appear in a subscribed calendar within a few minutes.
Regenerating the URL: if the feed URL was ever shared somewhere it shouldn't have been, click Regenerate URL and confirm. This immediately invalidates the old URL — members using it stop receiving updates and need the new URL re-shared with them to resubscribe.
Website Widget
The website widget is a small snippet of code your webmaster pastes into the club's public website. It renders a short list of upcoming events directly on the page, styled to match the site around it, and keeps itself up to date without anyone having to edit the page again.
Only events with Public Promotion checked (on the event's create or edit form) appear in the widget — the next 10 upcoming, oldest first. An event you haven't marked for public promotion stays inside Centerline, visible only to members.
Setting it up:
- In the Website Widget section, click Generate embed code.
- Copy the code and hand it to whoever maintains your club's website.
- They paste it into the page wherever the event list should appear.
The widget matches the surrounding site's fonts automatically and needs no further configuration. Sites with a strict Content Security Policy that blocks third-party scripts will need to specifically allow Centerline's script address — ask your webmaster to check if the widget doesn't appear.
Regenerating the code: click Regenerate code and confirm if you ever need to retire the old embed. The old code stops working immediately, so any site still using it will show nothing until the new code is pasted in.
Tips
- Mark events for public promotion as you create them, not after the fact — it's easy to forget to go back and check the box later, and an event that's already happened won't show up in the widget regardless.
- Share the calendar feed URL where new members will see it — a welcome email or your onboarding materials are both good spots, since the earlier a member subscribes, the fewer events they miss.
- Tell people before you regenerate either URL. Both actions are immediate and irreversible — the old link simply stops working, with no grace period.
- The website widget shows only what you mark public. If you want a private fly-out or members-only social to stay off the public website while everything else shows up automatically, just leave Public Promotion unchecked for that one event.
