Passkeys
Last updated 4/5/2026
Overview
Passkeys let you sign in to Centerline using the biometric or screen-lock authentication built into your device — Face ID on an iPhone, Touch ID on a Mac, Windows Hello on a PC, or a screen-lock PIN on Android. Instead of typing a password, you confirm your identity with a quick scan or tap. Behind the scenes, your device holds a cryptographic key that proves who you are without ever sending a password over the network.
You can register multiple passkeys — for example, one on your phone and one on your laptop — so you have a convenient option wherever you fly. Passkeys do not replace your password; they give you a faster, phishing-resistant alternative for day-to-day logins.
Device and Browser Support
Passkeys work on most modern devices and browsers:
- Apple: Safari on iOS 16+ and macOS Ventura+ (Face ID, Touch ID)
- Android: Chrome on Android 9+ (fingerprint, face unlock, or PIN)
- Windows: Chrome or Edge on Windows 10+ (Windows Hello)
If your browser does not support passkeys, the option will not appear in your profile or on the sign-in page.
Registering a Passkey
- Sign in with your email and password
- Go to your Profile and select the Security tab
- In the Passkeys section, click Add a passkey
- Your device will prompt you for biometric confirmation (Face ID, fingerprint, etc.) or your screen-lock PIN
- Once confirmed, the passkey is saved. Centerline names it automatically based on your device and browser (for example, "Safari on Mac") so you can tell your passkeys apart later
You can repeat this process on each device you want to use. There is no limit on how many passkeys you can register.
Signing In with a Passkey
- Go to the Sign In page
- Click Sign in with passkey
- Your device will show its passkey picker — select your Centerline passkey
- Confirm with your biometric or screen lock
- You are signed in and redirected to the dashboard
If the passkey attempt fails or you cancel the prompt, the sign-in page remains open and you can fall back to your email and password.
Managing Your Passkeys
In Profile > Security > Passkeys you can see all of your registered passkeys, including the device name and the date each one was added.
To remove a passkey, click the delete button next to it and confirm the removal. The passkey is deleted immediately. If it was your only passkey, you can still sign in with your email and password.
Tips
- Register passkeys on every device you use regularly. A passkey on your phone and another on your laptop means you always have a fast login option, whether you are at the airport or at home.
- Your password still works. Adding a passkey does not disable password login. If you lose a device, you can sign in with your password and remove the old passkey from your profile.
- Passkeys are phishing-resistant. Because your device verifies the website address before responding, passkeys cannot be tricked by look-alike sign-in pages the way passwords can.
- Shared or public devices. Only register a passkey on a device you personally control. On a shared club computer, use your email and password instead.
